Insurance and the OFWs

Republic Act (RA) 10022, enacted on March 8, 2010, is an amendment to RA 8042, also known as the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995. This legislation aims to further enhance the protection and promotion of the welfare of migrant workers, their families, and overseas Filipinos in distress.

A key provision under Section 37-A of RA 10022 is the Compulsory Insurance Coverage for Agency-Hired Workers. This section mandates that every migrant worker deployed through recruitment or manning agencies must be covered by a compulsory insurance policy, which must be secured at no cost to the worker. This insurance provides financial protection in cases of accidental death, natural death, permanent disability, repatriation, and other emergency needs.

PAMICO is one of the insurance companies accredited by the Insurance Commission to provide the required OFW insurance coverage, ensuring that Filipino migrant workers receive the security and support they need while working abroad.
